Husn ko wusaten jo deen ishq ko hausla diya
Jo na mile na mit sake mujh ko wo mudd'aa diya

Haath me leke jaam-e-maey aaj wo muskura diya
Aql ko sard kar dia ruh ko jagmaga diya

Dil pe liya hai daag-e-ishq khoke bahaar-e-zindagi
Ik ghul-e-tar ke waaste mainey chaman lutaa diya

Kuchh to kaho ye kya hua tum bhi the saath kya
Ghum me yah kyun suroor tha dard ne kyun maza diya

Ab na yah meri zaat hai ab na ye kaaenaat hae
Mainey nawa-e-ishq ko saaz se yun mila diya

Aks jamaal-e-yaar ka aainaa-e-khudi me dekh
Yah ghum-e-ishq kya dia mujhse mujhe chhipa diya

Hashr me aaftaab-e-hashr aur wo shor-e-al'amaan
'Asghar'-e-butparast ne zulf ka waasta diya

~ Asghar Gondvi

English translation:

When extension was given to beauty, courage was given to love,
Which can't be achieved & can't be forgotten, that issue was given to me.

Taking the wine cup in his hand he has smiled today,
The mind has become cold (dead) and the soul has been enlightened.

Blemish of love has been taken on heart by loosing happiness of life,
For one fresh flower I threw away the parterre.

Tell me what has this happened, were you also there,
Why there was intoxication in sorrow & the pain gave pleasure?

Now there is no 'I' and there is no universe,
I have mixed the love song with the instrument in such a way.

See the reflection of the beloved's beauty in the mirror of self existence,
By giving the pain of separation he has hidden me from myself.

The heat of the resurrection day and the cry for protection,
The idol worshiper 'Asgar' gave the reference of his ringlets.

Asghar Hussain 'Asghar' popularly known as Asghar Gondvi was a learned Sufi poet. He was the spritual desciple of Hazrat Qaazi Abdul Ghani R.A.,Asgar believed in the Sufi doctrine of wahdat-ul-wajood or the unity of being and that is prominetly visible in his poetry.Other than his poetry Asghar will always be remembered for his influence on Jigar Muraadabadi.Jigar had great respect for the spritual qualities of Ashgar & considered him as his spritual teacher.
Asghar got Jigar to marry his wife's sister to solve the his personal problems which included the habit of drinking. The relation between the two had great impact on Jigar's poetry, which is visible in the later part of Jigar's Poetry.

Rumi and Confucius

"Despite the fact that Confucius and Rumi were born in different periods and places, both were born at a time of social upheaval and political turmoil. Consequently, both thinkers tried to provide the means for their people to overcome the times of difficulty, first by understanding, cultivating, and realizing their human potentialities, and then by transforming themselves, their families, and their societies. Interestingly, Rumi and Confucius share more in common than most people would think and their teachings are still meaningful and relevant to the modern world. The wisdom of Confucius and Rumi provides todays readers with spiritual resources to overcome the challenges of our time and to build bridges of understanding and dialogue among different cultures and civilizations. This paper examines the core ideas of these two great thinkers and provides anthropocosmic insights into their ideas on nature, family and music." The Great Sufi Poet of Herat, Jami

Despite being virtually unknown here in America, the outstanding 15th century Persian Sufi, Nuruddin Abdul Rahman Jami was a Sufi poet par excellence. Among the Persian speakers, Jami's following verses - offering glowing praises for Rumi and his magna obra, Masnavi Manavi or Rhyming Couplets of Profound Spiritual Meanings - are widely known and often recited: Maulana Rumi's Masnavi Manavi  is the Quran in Persian language. I'm not saying that his excellency,  Maulana Rumi is a Prophet, but he sure does have a Book.
